[Dongtan Food Guide] The Ultimate Guide to Outback Steakhouse in Korea: Review, Full Lunch Menu & Ordering Hacks

Hello everyone! I’m Roger, a local journalist traveling on foot to discover authentic local spots, dining culture, and hidden gems across Korea.

Today, I’m sharing an honest, 100% self-funded review of my recent visit to Outback Steakhouse Dongtan Branch in Dongtan New Town, Gyeonggi Province.

To many international readers, Outback Steakhouse is recognized as a casual, everyday Aussie-themed diner. In South Korea, however, Outback has evolved into a distinctive dining phenomenon—it is regarded as a polished, premium family restaurant beloved for dates, birthdays, family celebrations, and business lunches. What makes it even more unique are the iconic “Outback Ordering Hacks” and the multi-course Lunch Sets that offer incredible value.

Here is everything you need to know about dining at Outback in Korea, from location tips to a complete breakdown of the lunch menu.

🚗 Parking Insider Tip:
The restaurant is situated in Block A. During peak weekend lunch and dinner hours, the vehicle queue entering Block A can get quite long. In this case, we strongly recommend parking in Block B, which has ample parking space. Blocks A and B are connected by an indoor pedestrian corridor, making the transfer quick and convenient.

Waiting System & Reservation Guide

Arriving around 2:25 PM on a Sunday, there was a short waiting queue.

Outback Steakhouse waitlist tablet

  • Digital Waiting Registration: Outback uses an entrance tablet queuing system where you enter a mobile phone number to receive waitlist updates via KakaoTalk. (We registered at 14:25 and were seated by 14:32).
  • Tip for International Travelers: If you don’t have a local Korean phone number (010), don’t panic! Simply speak directly to the host at the entrance counter. They will manually register your party on paper and call your name when a table is ready.
  • Reservation Tip: If you plan to visit during weekend meal peaks or public holidays, booking ahead via the Naver Map App is highly recommended.

Atmosphere & Dining Experience

The interior was calm, spacious, and inviting, filled mostly with families and couples. The servers were exceptionally attentive, checking in on steak doneness and overall table comfort throughout our meal.

1. Bushman Bread (Signature Starter)

Served warm right after you place your order.

  • Pro Tip: Along with the signature whipped mango butter, you can ask your server for Chocolate Sauce and Blue Cheese Dressing at no extra charge. The bread is complimentary and refillable!

2. The Famous “Soup to Salad” Hack

Salad upgraded from soup with fried chicken tender

Each lunch set includes a cup of house soup. A popular insider tip in Korea is:

  • Upgrade one soup to a Garden Salad for a small fee (approx. 1,400 KRW).
  • Add Fried Chicken Tenders on top (approx. 2,900 KRW per piece).

This transforms your soup into a customized mini version of Outback’s signature Crispy Chicken Tender Salad at a fraction of the cost!

3. Main Courses We Picked

Garlic Ribeye

  • Garlic Ribeye: A juicy, flavorful ribeye steak topped with sweet roasted garlic cloves and crispy garlic chips, perfectly tailored for garlic lovers.

Spicy Seafood Aglio e Olio

  • Spicy Seafood Aglio e Olio: A garlic-infused olive oil pasta generously tossed with fresh seafood. Its gentle spicy kick cuts right through the richness of the steak, making them a fantastic pair to share.

6 Essential “Outback Hacks” in Korea

  1. Lunch Set Cut-off Time: The lunch menu is served daily until 4:00 PM (your order must be finalized in the POS system before 4:00 PM).
  2. Soup Upgrade: Swap one set soup for a fresh salad and add a fried chicken tender for an easy side dish upgrade.
  3. Secret Dipping Sauces: Remember to request chocolate sauce and blue cheese dressing with your Bushman Bread.
  4. Free Soda Refills: Once you finish your fruit ade (or even during the meal), you can request free refills of fountain sodas (Coke, Sprite, Zero Coke, etc.).
  5. Complimentary Bread To-Go: When asking for the check, ask your server if you can have bread packed to go (“Ppang pojang ganeunghangayo?”). They will gladly pack warm loaves with butter for you to take home for free.
  6. Telecom Discounts: If you reside in Korea and subscribe to domestic telecom carriers (SKT or KT), present your membership barcode at checkout to receive 5% to 15% off.

Final Thoughts

The Dongtan Time Terrace branch offers excellent service, a clean dining environment, and a relaxed atmosphere. If you reside in or are visiting Dongtan New Town, it’s a dependable spot for a hearty steak meal.
